Elections in Luxembourg are held to determine the political composition of the representative institutions of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Luxembourg is a liberal representative democracy, with universal suffrage guaranteed under the constitution. Elections are held regularly, and are considered to be fair and free.
Separate elections are held to elect representatives at communal, national, and European levels. The main institution to which members are elected is theChamber of Deputies, the national legislature and the sole source of membership, confidence, and supply of the government. Luxembourg is represented by six MEPs to the European Parliament, who are elected simultaneously with elections held in other European Union member states.

Electoral system of Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a representative democracy in the form of a constitutional monarchy, with some elements of semi-direct democracy.
As in other countries of the European Union, voting is compulsory act of citizenship. The refusal to vote may be punished by a fine.
The Luxembourg population elects the 60 members of Parliament (Chambre des députés) through auniversal, proportional suffrage. Parliamentary elections are held every five years. The last parliamentary elections in the Grand Duchy were held on 20 October 2013.
