Legislative elections are scheduled to be held in Romania on 11 December 2016. Elections will be held according to new rules, following the amendment of electoral legislation during 2015. 

Romanian Parliamentary election 2016 Dates have been announed as 11 dec 2016 and the Results would be decided by dec 12. Romania Parliamentary election 2016 Opinion Poll indicates PSD is ahead in all the polls till date. The Candidates for Romania election are PSD (Liviu Dragnea) and PNL (Alina Gorghiu). Live Voting would take place on 11 december 7 am. Population (as of June 1, 2015) – 21,729,871

Romanian Parliamentary election Exit Poll Live 2016

  1. The Social Democrats won a projected 37.5 percent of the vote, an exit poll showed.
  2. The exit poll, conducted by Curs-Avangarde for Romania TV, showed the Liberal Party(PNL) in second place on 28%.  Official results will only come on Monday.
  3. The Social Democrats (PSD) – whose leader, Liviu Dragnea, was convicted of electoral fraud – appears set to win 40% of the vote. 
  4. The center-right National Liberal Party (PNL) and the new Save Romania Union (USR) were expected to receive a combined 35-40 percent.  
  5. Polling stations opened on Sunday at 07:00 local time (0500 GMT) and will close at 21:00. Nearly 19 million voters are eligible to take part in the elections.
  6. At 21:00, when polls close, then the exit polls would start the Inst conducting are:-

  7. Polls estimated the Social Democrats (PSD), whose leader Liviu Dragnea was convicted of electoral fraud, would win 40% of the vote. The centre-right National Liberal Party (PNL) and the new Save Romania Union (USR) were expected to receive a combined 35-40 percent.
  8. All 504 seats in Romania’s bicameral parliament will be up for re-election, when the country’s new government will be decided. The second-poorest among the European Union’s 28-member states.
  9. Romania joined the European Union (EU) 10 years ago. It is the bloc’s second poorest member state.

The legislative election of 2016 will unfold differently compared to 2012 and 2008. On 24 February 2015, the Electoral Code Commission decided for future electoral law to return to party-list proportional representation.

With a representation norm of one deputy per 73,000 inhabitants and one senator per 168,000 inhabitants,

  1. 308 deputies to be elected (18 deputies of minorities)
  2. 134 senators and 6 MPs of diaspora (two senators and four deputies).
  3. – totals 466 MPs to be elected, five fewer than in 2008 and 122 fewer than in 2012.
