  1. A special election for the position of Massachusetts State Senate Bristol & Norfolk District has been called for October 17, 2017. A primary election has been called for September 19, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was August 15, 2017.
  2. The seat became vacant on April 28, 2017, when James Timilty (D) resigned to become Norfolk County treasurer.
  3. Paul Feeney and Ted Philips will face off in the Democratic primary. Michael Berry, Jacob Ventura, Harry Brousaides, and Tim Hempton will face off in the Republican primary. Joe Shortsleeve is running as an independent candidate

  1. Democrat Paul Feeney of Foxborough on the primary for the Bristol and Norfolk state Senate seat.
  2. Republican Jacob Ventura of Attleboro won the primary for the Bristol and Norfolk state Senate seat.
  3. The two will be contest the general election on Oct. 17.
  4. Democrat Foxborough’s Paul Feeney beat Attleboro Republican Jacob Ventura by a margin of 47 percent to 43 percent.
  5. The Bristol Norfolk district covers Mansfield, Norton, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Foxborough, Medfield, Walpole and parts of Attleboro and Sharon.
