Montana At-Large congressional district special election 2017 Voting Live
Montana's At-Large District has been held by a Republican since 1997. Former incumbent Ryan Zinke won election in 2014 and 2016 by roughly 15 points, which initially pointed to a safe Republican election. Following tight special elections in Kansas' 4th District and Georgia's 6th District, more attention and spending was directed into this race. The Congressional Leadership Fund, a Republican super PAC announced on April 12, 2017, that it would be spending upwards of $1,000,000 and the National Republican Congressional Committee committed $300,000 to advertising in the district. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also committed "six figures" to the race.
The race received further attention following Donald Trump, Jr.'s participation in Greg Gianforte's campaign events April 21-22 and the announcement by Senator Bernie Sanders that he would be campaigning with Rob Quist prior to election day.
