Virginia Governor Gubernatorial election Date: 13 June 2017
The Virginia gubernatorial election of 2017 will take place on November 7, 2017. Primaries will take place on June 13, 2017. The incumbent Governor, Democrat Terry McAuliffe, is not eligible to run for re-election due to term limits established by the Virginia Constitution. Virginia is the only state that prohibits its Governor from serving consecutive terms.
The primary elections will take place on June 13, 2017. Virginia utilizes an open primary, in which registered voters are allowed to vote in only one party's primary election.

- The polls will open at 6 a.m and close at 7 p.m. and primary election results are expected by evening.
- Voter turnout is expected to be around 12 percent, according to Geoff Skelley, Sabato’s Crystal Ball Associate Editor at University of Virginia. In Fairfax County, turnout could be around 30 percent.
