France presidential election 2017 Results Dates Voting Opinion Poll

The first round of the 2017 French presidential election will be held on 23 April 2017. Should no candidate win a majority, a run-off election between the top two candidates will be held on 7 May 2017. Incumbent president François Hollande of the Socialist Party (PS) is eligible to run for a second term, but declared on 1 December 2016 that he would not seek re election in light of low approval ratings. He is the first incumbent president of the Fifth Republic not to run for a second term. This is also the first French presidential election in which nominees of both the main centre-left and centre-right parties were selected through open primaries. A total of 11 candidates will contest the first round. The presidential election will be followed by a legislative election to elect members of the National Assembly on 11 and 18 June.

French Presidential Election Opinion Poll 2017 shows Le Pen Ahead with 24% votes base from Macron, EM with on Average 23% vote base. Although the vote difference is very less and it cant really be said that who will win. The next French presidential election is scheduled to be held in April and May 2017. Incumbent president François Hollande is eligible to run for a second term.

Socialist Party (France) presidential primary, 2017

The primary will be held on 22 January 2017, with a runoff election to be held on 29 January between the two candidates with the most votes should no candidate win 50 percent of the vote. 
The 2017 French Socialist Party presidential primary will be held to select candidate of the French Socialist Party and Radical Party of the Left for the 2017 presidential election.It will be the second open primary (primaires citoyennes) held by the socialist parties, after the primary in 2011, where François Hollande defeated Martine Aubry to become the Socialist Party nominee. Hollande went on to defeat incumbent president Nicolas Sarkozy in the 2012 presidential election.

The first round of the 2017 French presidential election was held on 23 April 2017. This is also the first French presidential election in which nominees of both the main centre-left and centre-right parties were selected through open primaries.   3. A first estimate of the results will be published around 8pm.
  4. If elected, Macron, 39, would be the youngest president of France's Fifth Republic. Marine Le Pen, 48, would be the first female president.
  5. A total of 47.58 million people are registered to vote. The country’s 66,546 polling stations will open at 8 am (0600 GMT) and most will close at 7 pm, while those in Paris and other big cities will remain open an hour longer.
  6. The first estimated results could come as early as 7:45 pm (1745 GMT).  The new president will take over from Socialist Francois Hollande and is expected to be sworn in by May 14.
  7. According to latest opinion poll Macron is well ahead of Le pen in second round at 62% and Le pen at 38% on average if we see average of all opinion polls.
